In 1992, Laura Kelly partnered with Ghoul Squad founder and front man Ron Hexe. For years,
the two struggled to find a dependable resource to supply the merchandise for the band. While there were several companies
available, the price was costly and the delay in delivery was lengthy.
By 2001, Kelly and
Hexe formed Cheapbuttons.com. Originally, the venture was intended to provide benefit to Hexe's musical projects.
But the two immediately found others with similar needs. As a result, they started working with local area
bands to provide buttons and help offset the costs of their investment.
Although the two founding
partners now pursue separate personal and professional paths, Laura maintains the dedication and commitment to Cheapbuttons.com
that has been at the heart of the organization since inception.
Nearly 10 years later, the company has expanded
its product line to service its international customer base. What started with a single 1 1/4" manual button
press has grown to include several button sizes as well as key chains, magnets, pocket mirrors and bottle openers. Laura
plans to have a fully automated production line by 2011.
The company continues to cater to small diy musicians
and artists but also assists with many local and national political campaigns, school election efforts,
and private functions such as birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and other commemorative events.
There are a few
factors that contribute to Cheapbuttons.com competitive pricing. The philosophy of the company has always been
to offer a low-priced product to individuals and groups. We have low fixed costs and Cheapbuttons.com is not our
primary source of income. We maintain professional careers and orders are often processed in the evenings and weekends.
Most importantly, we do not rely high profits from these efforts.
We build relationships with
our customers. There are many clients that we have been working with since inception and we continue to enjoy
being a part of their important events throughout the years.
